Completed in early 2004, this renovation and rehabilitation of a 19th century four story structure located in the center of downtown Northampton, Massachusetts, encompasses several high-end residential apartments on the upper floor while providing space for various social agencies, clinicians, and a Quaker meeting center on the second floor. A residential cot shelter program is provided for on the ground level. New features include complete barrier free access improvements, complete fire protection alarm and sprinkler systems and major structural remediation to bring the entire building into compliance with current codes. Major modifications were made to the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, including an innovative installation of a new air conditioning system at the roof level.
