Addressing an acute need for additional patient care areas to deal with increasing admissions through the Emergency Department and limited inpatient beds, this open bay transition unit was developed to provide a clinical setting for patients to await admission. A central nurse station provides direct observation of eight patient areas which are supported by individually controlled lighting, individual televisions, and privacy curtains. Soft lighting and warm finishes provide a comfortable environment.
